Our Philosophy

We believe that “learning to learn” and the ability to continually reinvent oneself can be fostered in children from a young age. Children must prepare for uncertainty and be equipped with creativity, agility and adaptability.

This requires a reorientation of teaching and learning from early childhood education to primary school to university education. It means encouraging flexibility rather than specialization. It requires training and retraining teachers, as well as redesigning education systems and curricula.

The process of change in education had already begun in response to the dynamic environment of the 21st Century. The pandemic which began in 2020 has accelerated this period of change.

Decisions made today in the context of COVID-19 will have long-term consequences for the future of education. Policymakers, educators, and communities must make high- stakes choices today—these decisions should be guided by shared principles and visions of desirable collective futures.

COVID-19 has revealed vulnerabilities; it has also surfaced extraordinary human resourcefulness and potential. This is a time for pragmatism and quick action, but it is also a moment when more than ever we cannot abandon scientific evidence. Nor can we operate without principles. Choices must be based on a humanistic vision of education and the development of human rights frameworks.

The education landscape is fertile ground for offering innovation support that ensures education emerges stronger and more effective than ever before.

Play Maker Studios is positioned to support children and educators in a continual spiral of response, innovation, adaptation, and reflection.
